As far as internships go, working for Eyeview (Extra)ordinary has been far from the stereotyped role of simply fetching coffees. Not really knowing what to expect when I turned up, it’s been a huge insight into the events industry with no two days, or even two hours being the same! I have assisted building an art installation, supported street music performances, set up a street party, managed a light display in a church, worked an art exhibition, aided sound installation shows, stewarded exploratory dance performances, and taken part in a procession through Torquay. I’ve worked closely with a range of artists, events managers, project managers and a wealth of volunteers through rain and shine (unfortunately predominantly the former!) to put together a fortnight of extraordinary events and experiences across Torbay. As there is no such thing as a ‘typical’ day for an Eyeview intern, here’s a little insight into some of the events I have had the pleasure to work on…
Lucy Wilson

Read Lucy’s review of ‘Silence Between Waves’. This collaborative project was a co-production with Dance in Devon and brought together Richard Chappell Dance, 3 professional Singaporean dancers, and local performers aged 14 to 94, from Brixham College, Spires Academy, ROC Creative, Lifeworks and Step in Time. The project culminated in a performance at Berry Head Nature Reserve, with support from partners Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust. The project was commissioned by Eyeview with support from Singaporean Arts Council and Arts Council England.
Theresa Dunhorne
Producing & Events Management Intern
Theresa writes about joining the Eyeview team at the beginning of her internship which began in March 2019 and ran through to the end of (extra)ordinary on 16 June 2019. Throughout her internship, Theresa was an important part of the small Eyeview production team and she turned her hand to many and diverse tasks including marketing and social media, supporting conversation events ‘Social Permaculture’ and ‘The Marriage’. She worked in a range of roles throughout the (extra)ordinary programme, including event support and registration of owners and dogs at ‘Dog Ballet’; and stewarding in seahorse costume for ‘The Offering’. Theresa was also Event Lead on ‘Grass Men’ supporting artist Ashley Peevor throughout the growing, rehearsal and performance stages of the project.
